Marge’s Still Project

(2020-present)

I began a conversation with the owners of Marge’s Still in the ominous early 2020. The main goal was to provide cohesion and awareness for the Marge’s Still brand, create a new website with increased functionality, and build an online presence. These are key factors to achieving their goal of an expanded customer base and more regulars. When I started this project, they had about 100 followers across all platforms and the website was functional but bare, providing an essentially clean slate.

First order of business was to tackle the branding. The owners wanted an homage to the sign out front and the previous owner Marge Landeck, the space’s past as a speakeasy, and its beautifully restored features. Sketching a likeness of Marge for the logo and choosing a font suite and colors that reflect the moody speakeasy aesthetic breathed so much life into this historical Chicago landmark! As the oldest bar in Chicago, it was important to preserve and enhance its heritage while modernizing the restaurant & bar’s iconic brand. The new branding went live in 2021 and staff and customers alike were enamored with the new designs.

Upon rolling out new a new brand identity in 2021, creating the website and updating Facebook and Instagram the customers and calls started pouring in. Followers on both Facebook and Instagram have over 1k followers and are growing still! We also created merch and gift cards with the logo and made thousands of dollars in sales! Today, Marge’s Still continues to thrive on the corner of Sedgwick and Menomonee! Though I still work with Marge’s Still on an as needed basis, my last formal project with them ended in 2023. Go check them out for the best pot pie in Chicago!
